Berrigan, Daniel 1921- and Philip 1924-. US
Roman Catholic priests. The brothers,
opponents of the Vietnam War, broke into the
draft-records offices at Catonsville,
Maryland, to burn the files with napalm. They
were sentenced in 1968 to three and six
years' imprisonment respectively, but went
underground. Subsequently Philip Berrigan was
tried with others in 1972 for allegedly
conspiring to kidnap President Nixon's
adviser Henry Kissinger and blow up
government offices in Washington, DC; he was
then sentenced to two years' imprisonment.
